Assignment 1-4-4; "Written Analyses"

YouTube is a creation of Steve Chen, Chad Hurley and Jawed Karim. They started at February 14, 2005 and in 2006 it has been takeover by Google. Although the three entrepreneurs have develop and biggest search Engine Company is supporting this site, YouTube has become self celebrity to the world. People think about YouTube in the first to watching videos online. It has become a hallmark and ultimate destination for online viewers. It is a hero for all those people who enjoy watching video online for free of cost.
A hero is a most important character of play, movie and story (Active Study, 2001). While focusing on the popular culture of YouTube and its growing popularity, I found YouTube as a hero of online video gallery for this twenty first century. It has more than 6 million regular viewers and user around the globe. A huge mass is supporting this video sharing network as a celebrity. More than 6 million people are fans of YouTube and they are satisfied with their icon.
This case is beyond the theory of Classical Heroes and Personal Heroes. According to Browne R.B (2005), “heroes are our own creation to serve our own needs”. In this way we can say that YouTube is a hero of our generation. This theory gives a perfect reason for the growing popularity of YouTube. People use YouTube as they want. They search the video they want, upload they have and share their thoughts. Since it is free log on site, people have make YouTube as a tradition for online video, online video gallery icon, and a strong online media celebrity.
By applying the theory and meaning of popular culture, I have more clarity on my topic. It was just a topic when I had chosen it but now I have the knowledge of every side that can be a popular culture to million people around the world.  I must thank this course to give me an ability to see the things into a new prospective.
